Bantwal: Steevan Prakash Martis elected as Catholic Sabha president of Soorikumeru church

Bantwal, Nov 9: Steevan Prakash Martis is elected as the new president of Catholic Sabha of St Joseph Church Soorikumeru in the taluk. Teacher Ida Lasrado is elected as the secretary.

The election in this regard was held on Sunday, November 8. Antony D'Souza, president of Catholic Sabha, Mogarnad zone, Emilda D'Souza and Dennis Shambhoor oversaw the process of election.

Simultaneously, officer bearers of the executive committee were also elected. They are Vincent D'Souza as vice-president, teacher Rita Moras as joint secretary, Kishore Santhosh Pinto as treasurer, Priya Pinto as representative of Amcho Sandesh, Josphine Lasrado as women convener, Steevan Alwin Pais as political convener and Roshan Boniface Martis as community development convener.

The election was supposed to be held in April, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the same was held on November 8 as per the orders of Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of the Mangaluru diocese.

Speaking on the occasion, parish priest Fr Gregory Pereira congratulated the outgoing office bearers and lauded their working style. He also wished all the very best to the new office bearers.

Vice-president of the parish pastoral committee, Elias Pereira and secretary, Mary D'Souza were present. The programme was compered by Roshan Boniface Martis, founder president of Catholic Sabha Soorikumeru Borimar unit.
