Kundapur, Nov 11: The work of cleaning Kodi beach sea walk after the adoption of the beach by environmental management and policy research institute (EMPRI) with funds from the union government was set in motion on Tuesday.

DCF of the forest department, environment division, Mangaluru and Udupi regional director, Dr Dinesh set the work in motion. EMPRI programme officer Sathyashree Gautham said that six beaches in two districts were cleaned last year. The process will continue till March 31.

Forest department, Kundapur sub division DFO Dr Ashith Reddy, ACF Lohith, RFO Prabhaker Kulal, CRZ’s Udupi ACF Manjunath, senior assistant director Savitri Khadri, CRZ’s Dheeraj, municipal council vice president Sandeep Kharvi, members Kamala Manjunath, Laxmibai, former president Gunarathna, former president of Gopady panchayat Saraswathi G Putran, Red Cross organization’s Shivarama Shetty, former vice president Kalpana Bhasker, clean Kundapur project’s Bharath Bangera, Ganesh Putran, Lohith Bangera, Malati Bangera, Aniketh Shenoy, Chandrika Chandramohan, Satyanarayana Manja, Aditya Navada, Vaibhav, Asha Shetty, Anudeep Hegde, Nireekshit and others were present.

Beach Echo Park and Tree Park will come up on a 10-12 acre forest land near the Kodi sea walk.
