Bengaluru, Nov 12: Representatives of Right to Education (RTE) Parents Association and Private Schools Association have suggested to the department of public instruction to start classes for ninth to 12th standard students.

"Already the commissioner of public instruction has held meetings with officials of different departments, educationists and School Development and Monitoring Committee members about school reopening and collected information besides sending a report about the feedback to the principal secretary in the department of primary and secondary education. As there were objections from some quarters about the RTE parents and representative of private school association having not been consulted on the subject, the official of the education department convened a meeting with the representatives of these associations and elicited their opinions.

RTE Parents Association general secretary, B N Yogananda, said that the associations have suggested reopening classes between 9 and 12 after December 15. "In the interests of the SSLC and PU students, they should be allotted corona grace marks. Bonds have to be executed by parents about the personal attendance of students in schools. Health insurance facilities should be extended to every student," are some of the demands placed before the government, Yogananda stated.

President of Recognized Unaided Private Schools Association (RUPSA), Lokesh Talikatte said that they have placed several demands like total sanitisation of the school area 15 days before the school reopening before the government.

An officer of the department said that a report about reopening of schools has already been submitted and additional suggestions if any which emerged at the Wednesday meeting will be put together and placed before the government.
