Mangaluru: CODP observes National Cancer Awareness Day

Mangaluru, Nov 12: Caritas India and CODP®, here, on November 10 organized Sparsha- Awareness on Cancer on the occasion of National Cancer Awareness Day at CODP.

Resource person, Shilpa D Souza, explained to the participants the causes, symptoms and types of cancer. She mentioned the ratio of mortality which has occurred due to cancer. She focused on early detection and treatment and stated that the use of tobacco, alcohol, smoking and consumption of canned foods, would also lead to cancer. Advice on avoiding junk food was also advised to the participants.

Growing vegetables in our own garden without using chemicals will reduce the risk of getting Cancer. By doing yoga and exercise we can maintain our fitness. And by 'Adopting a healthy life style we can beat cancer' and therefore reduce the rate of mortality.
