Udupi: Theives on separate occasions steal temple valuables, police register cases

Udupi, Nov 12: In a shocking incident, thieves broke the lock of the side door of Panjurli temple, Kadipatna, Nadsal village, Kaup between 11 pm on Nov 11 and 6.30 am on Nov 12, and opened the box of offerings and decamped with Rs 1,500 cash, two silver ornaments weighing 400 gms and 250 gms, gold chain weighing 4 gms, Karimani gold chain weighing 8 gm, gold pearl chain weighing 5 gms and small gold chain weighing 2.2 gms from inside the temple. The total value of stolen items is approximately Rs 50,000.

Police have registered case No 90/2020 in Padubidri police station under IPC sections 457 and 380 on the basis of a complaint from Subha S Kunder (40), resident of Padubidri, Nadsal village.

In a similar case, unidentified thieves broke the lock of Guliga Panjurli temple, Kadipatna, Kaup between 9.30 pm on Nov 11 and 6.30 am on Nov 12. The thieves have decamped with the silver chain of the deity weighing 350 gms and gold chain weighing 4 gms. The total value of the stolen jewellery is approximately Rs 30,000. Padubidri police have registered case number 91/2020 under section 457, 380 on the basis of a complaint from Ravindra Kanchan, Padubidri, Nadsal village, Kaup.
