Udupi, Nov 13: The District Congress Committee will be organizing a signature campaign against Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) Act on Tuesday November 17 responding to senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi's call for collecting two crore signatures from the farmers which will be sent to President Ramnath Kovind, district Congress president, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor announced on Friday, November 13 at a press meet held at the press club in Brahmagiri, here.

Ashok Kumar said, "As per the direction given by KPCC president, D K Shivakumar, signatures will be collected in 1111 booths which will be displayed for a distance of about two kilometres from Bannanje to Kadiyali to raise awareness to the public."

"The Congress workers will stand beside the road and display the collected signatures to the public. "The main objective of this campaign is to bring to the notice of the President the difficulties faced by the public due to the policies made by the BJP government in both the state and the centre and pressurize the government to withdraw the Acts."

The campaign will be headed by Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, president of Udupi District Congress Committee. The programme will be inaugurated by Salim Ahmed, executive president Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.

Former Vinay Kumar Sorake, Pramod Madhwaraj, Gopal Poojary, and others will take part in the event.

Harish Kini, general secretary, Kirthi Shetty, Prashanth Jathanna were present.
