Bengaluru, Nov 13: Kannada Development Authority has constituted a task force for the development of Kannada during the year-long 'Kannada KayakaVarsha' declared by chief minister B S Yediyurappa as part of the 65th Kannada Rajyothsava celebrations.

Announcing the formation of the task force, Kannada Development Authority Chairman T S Nagabharana on Friday said every Kannadiga is a soldier in the task of developing the state’s official language.

He was participating in a meeting of the Kannada Development Authority held in Vidhana Soudha with the members and all interested persons.

"All those interested in the growth and development of Kannada language, literature and culture can take part in the task force activities. Care has been taken to ensure that the Authority is not put into disrepute or exceed the responsibilities entrusted to them," he said.

Nagabharana said the Kannada Development Authority would prepare action plans to involve all Kannadigas in the task of developing the language, culture and traditions.

The meeting began after observing one-minute silence on the demise of Kannada poet V C Airasanga of Dharwad and journalist Ravi Belagere.

Kannada Development Authority members Prof Abdul Rehman, Rohit Chakrathirtha, Dr Ramesh Gubbigoodu, Suresh Badigera, KabbinaleVasantBharadhwaj, Dr Vijayalakshmi Balekundri, Dr C A Kishore and Authority Secretary Dr K Muralidhara participated in the meeting.
