Mangaluru, Nov 16: Jasmine flower is being procured at the Shankarapura Mallige Katte at the maximum rate of Rs 1,250 per Atte. In the open market, this flower, which occupies a place of prominence in auspicious occasions and religious celebrations, is being sold at over Rs 2,000. Strangely, even though there are buyers who are ready to offer still more price for the flower, the flower, which is in short supply, is not available in the market.

Because of the early morning dew being experienced in the region since the last several days, jasmine harvest has taken a hit. With the improved sunshine, the harvest is expected to go up. At present, every grower is able to put together one or two 'Chendu; of jasmine. Therefore, there is acute shortage of flower in the market, a jasmine cultivator, K R Patkar, revealed.
