Kundapur, Nov 17: “There was a time when people used to hesitate to contest elections from BJP. But four to five activists are eager to contest elections from each ward now. But the party allows only sincere activists to stand for elections. Sincerity alone is being given importance in the current gram panchayat elections,” said Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty. He was speaking at the preliminary elections meeting held in Nempu the residence of Byndoor MLA on Tuesday evening.

“All should be bound by the decision of the party with regard to the distribution of seats. We should win in 35 gram panchayats out of 38 in Byndoor Vidhan Sabha limits. Let us face elections without having differences by making the developments in Byndoor reach the voters,” he said.

BJP district president Kuilady Suresh Nayak said that gram panchayat elections are not like elections for MP and MLA. “We have to face several challenges here. There are no symbols in gram panchayat elections. Our rivals make use of its absence to confuse voters and reap the benefits. We should not allow that to happen now. Our activists should convey this conspiracy to the voters,” he said.

“Congress which has lost power in the centre and the state is frustrated. But Congress is rooted in gram level. It only has its strength in the villages. We should break their ankles in the current elections so that victory in the 38 gram panchayats will be ours. Let us aim to make Byndoor Congress-free,” suggested Kuilady Suresh Nayak.
District chief secretary Manohar Kalmady, Byndoor mandala president Deepak Kumar Shetty, mandala secretary Balachandra Bhat, district secretary Malati Naik, district panchayat members Shobha Putran, Rohith Kumar Shetty, Suresh Batavady, Kundapur taluk panchayat president Indira Shetty, Byndoor taluk panchayat vice president Malini K and presidents of various morchas were present.

Mandala vice president Samrat Shetty welcomed the gathering. Mandala secretary Kishore Kumar extended vote of thanks. Mahila Morcha president Priyadarshini Devadiga compered the meeting.
