Kudapur, Nov 18: Sudeep Shetty (24), a well-known Yakshagana artiste from Kela Suggigadde in Amasebail village fell into a canal located by the side of his house and died. This tragedy happened on Sunday, November 15 .

After suffering injuries in a road accident about two years back, Shetty used to suffer from bouts of dizziness and had episodes of sudden collapse. He had left home but did not return for several hours. His family members went looking for him and found his body lying in the canal some distance away from his house. It is suspected that he would have slipped and fallen into the canal when he was relieving himself.

Based on a complaint filed by the mother of the victim, Vanaja Shetty, a case was registered in Amasebail police station.

Sudeep Shetty, who had served Megaravalli, Sigandhur and Mandarthi Melas during the last some years, used to don female characters. Currently he was associated with Mandarthi Mela. He was unmarried. He is survived by parents. Yakshagana Kalaranga Udupi has expressed deep sorrow at his untimely death.
