Udupi, Nov 19: "The Campus Front of India (CFI) Karnataka, Udupi unit is organizing a rally on Saturday November 21 in order to support a statewide march demanding scholarships," said Riyaz Kadambu, member of the state CFI committee.

Addressing a meeting at the press club, here, on Thursday November 19 Kadambu said, "The rally will begin from UPMC circle and culminate at the DC office. The government has slashed the fellowship amount. Sometimes it delays sanctioning scholarships. About 80% of the applicants have not received scholarships. The total fellowship is reduced from Rs 25,000 to Rs 10,000, which is unfair. The state government gives excuses for the corona pandemic virus, but the reserved fund should be used for the purpose of education alone.

"The five major demands are meant to simplify the scholarship system. Pending applications must be disposed off at the earliest possible period. The minority department must speed up the work in relation to releasing pending scholarships. The deducted PhD fellowship order must be revoked and continued as before and immediate action should be taken against misusing the scholarship amount.

"There are scholars who want to continue their education. Immature decisions by the government puts students in distress."

Kadambu blamed the DC and the minority department saying, "The welfare of the minority students is the responsibility of the state government, but it has done nothing for them. They have not even appointed a minister for the minority department."

Navaz Sheikh, district president, CFI, Zishan, Kundapur unit president, Usama Gangolli, district member and Zam Zam, vice president of CFI Udupi were present.
