Udupi, Dec 7: Five organizations have already announced that they will join hands in the 'Bharath Bandh' that will be held on Tuesday, December 8.

Government buses will run as usual. Private buses may reduce trips as people are less likely to be on the roads. Grocery shops and milk stores will be open and government offices will function as usual.

Left-wing parties in Udupi have announced support to the December 8 bandh called by nearly 300 farmers' organizations in the country. CITU members have decided in a meeting to support the farmer’s campaign. “The proposed amendment to the Farm Act by the Centre is anti-farmer and favours the corporates. We oppose it,” said CPM secretary Balakrishna Shetty.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that they do not support the Acts that support Adanis and Ambanis. “The bandh is inevitable as six rounds of talks with the government did not yield any results. We are campaigning against the dictatorship of the Modi government,” he said.

Udupi district Congress, Kisan Congress, Dalit Sangharsha Samithi, Farmers' organizations, Muslim organizations and Sahabalve have expressed their support for the bandh that is being held to oppose the Centre's contentious farm laws.
