Udupi: Renowned theatre artist Madhav Acharya passes away at 79

Udupi, Dec 7: Udyavar Madhav Acharya a theatre director, story writer, poet, the actor of famous Guddada Bhoota TV serial, founder of artistes group in Udupi, recognised in the state for his dramas and dance metaphors and who had directed more than 50 dramas and dance recitals, recipient of state award and Rana Visharada award has passed away at the age of 79.

He worked as professor of Poornaprajna College, Udupi and was suffering from old age-related ailments. He passed away in KMC, Manipal on the afternoon of Monday, December 7. He is survived by wife, a son, three daughters and scores of admirers.

He was a member of Kalaranga and began his career as Yakshagana artiste working actively at the beginning of Yakshanidhi of professor B V Acharya. The Yaksha Ranga team under his leadership took part in the AKKA Sammelana in 2004 and performed across 11 places in America.
