Udupi: Retired professor, veteran journalist K Damodar Aithal no more

Udupi, Dec 8: Veteran journalist, education scholar, social activist and former president of Udupi district working journalist’s association, social leader, Damodar Aithal (85) passed away at his residence in Kadiyali in Udupi due to old age-related ailments this morning.

He had served in various local educational institutes as a lecturer and professor before his retirement. He was active as a journalist for Hosadiganta newspaper, Udupi consumer’s forum and took part in the formation of Tulu Shivalli Madhwa Mahamandala.

He had provided justice to several people during his service as Udupi consumer forum convener.

Aithal was the curriculum inspection officer at Mangaluru DDPI office and has also served as Udupi teacher’s cooperative bank managing director. He indulged actively at the beginning of Chinnara Santarpane scheme of Udupi Krishna math. He was identified in several groups and organizations even after his retirement.

He has left behind four daughters.
