Kundapur, Dec 9: Director of Dakshina Kannada Milk Federation, Haddur Rajiv Shetty died in a car accident on Halady bridge in the taluk.

Rajiv Shetty was driving to Halady from Shankaranarayan when his car collided against the Halady bridge as he lost control. Rajiv, who was grievously injured due to the impact of the accident was taken to Manipal Hospital immediately, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way. The other person in the car escaped with minor injuries.

Rajiv Shetty was a progressive farmer and milk producer. He was serving as director of DK Milk Federation and also served as the president and director of Shankaranarayana Agricultural Cooperative Society. Rajiv was also the former member of zilla panchayat and member, president of Shankaranarayana gram panchayat. He was active in various organizations and was an influential leader of BJP.

Rajiv is survived by his wife, former zilla panchayat member Mamatha Shetty and a daughter.
