Udupi: Former Varamballi gram panchayat president, Congress leaders join BJP

Udupi, Dec 9: Dalit leader, Udupi district scheduled caste morcha president S Narayan joined BJP in the presence of MLA K Raghupathi Bhat appreciating the principles of BJP and supporting development by Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat.

S Narayan who was an important Congress leader of Varamballi village also served as Varamballi gram panchayat member and president. MLA K Raghupathi Bhat handed over the party flag and welcomed him into the party fold.



Similarly 12 Congress elected representatives including Navin Chandra Nayak who was member of Varamballi panchayat five times and panchayat president under Congress, Varamballi Congress supported gram panchayat former members Raju Salian, Devananda, Cristine, Gopal Devadiga, Kavita, Hema Shettigar, Sadananda Poojary, Gulabi Kunder and Suresh Birthi joined BJP in the presence of MLA K Raghupathi Bhat. The MLA handed over the party flag to them and welcomed them into the party fold.

Rural BJP president Veena Naik, chief secretary Ashok Heroor, Varamballi gram panchayat election in-charge Sudheer Shetty, party’s Nishan Rai, Birthi Rajesh Shetty, taluk panchayat member Kusuma, former taluk panchayat members Umesh Naik, district executive member Nagaveni, Brahmavar Mahashakthi centre members Ullas Varamballi, Harish Shetty Cherkadi, party elders and activists were present.
