Bengaluru, Dec 11: The cow slaughter prohibition bill passed by the state assembly has not yet been moved in the legislative council. The calculations of the government to hurriedly get the bill passed in both houses did not work. Citing gram panchayat election, council chairman, Prathapchandra Shetty, indefinitely adjourned the proceedings and that came as a shocker to the state government.

Not ready to get things lying down, the Yediyurappa-led government is reportedly readying to enforce the bill by seeking recourse to ordinance.

Giving information, chief minister Yediyurappa, said that it has been decided to convene the session for a day on Tuesday. He said he has already discussed the issue with the governor. He also expressed unhappiness at the abrupt adjournment of the legislative council session, saying that the chairman of the council does not have the right to adjourn the session.

He said that the chairman of the council was not extending cooperation to pass the law. He therefore, said that the governor has been requested to convene a day's session on Tuesday. He asserted that the chairman does not have the right to adjourn the session, duly pointing out that the BAC meeting had decided to conduct session till Tuesday where the chairman of the council was present.
