Bantwal, Dec 12: In a weird incident, the wife of a gram panchayat election candidate in Anantadi gram panchayat elections here has submitted a letter of objection asking not to allow her husband to stand for elections.

Navin, her husband had submitted his nomination as independent candidate from Anantadi in Vitla police station limits.

His wife, Belthangady resident Akshata arrived at Anantadi gram panchayat when the nomination was being verified and submitted the letter of objection to the election officer.

“Three cases including a criminal case are pending against Navin. Therefore, he should not be permitted to contest elections. Besides that Navin has not mentioned in the nomination about the cases pending against him. It is justifiable?," she asked in the letter of objection.
