Media Release

Mangaluru, Dec 14: Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, the bishop of the diocese condoled the death of Bannaje Govindacharya. “The demise of the eminent scholar, renowned orator and Padmashree awardee of Udupi, Bannaje Govindacharya is a huge loss to society. ‘Vidya Vaachaspathi’ Bannaje Govindacharya was one of the foremost Sanskrit scholars of the country, who deeply studied Indian philosophies and blended them with contemporary thought to create awareness in society.

"As an author and orator, he will be a fount of spiritual awakening for generations to come. Through his discourses, he spread knowledge throughout this land. In his demise, the intellectual arena has been rendered poorer. May his soul be blessed with peace,” the Bishop said in a media release through Roy Castelino, the Public Relations officer for the diocese.
