Mangaluru: Lively blend of voices echo at ‘Carmel Carols Singing Competition 2020’

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Naman Ballok Jesu, Konkani Monthly in association with Infant Jesus Shrine and Carmel Studio, on December 14 at 5 pm organized ‘Carmel Carols Singing Competition 2020’. As the Carmelite Brothers commenced the programme with their melodious carols, the Infant Jesus Shrine premises was bathed in an ambiance of bliss and joy. The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, Sunil Xavier, the owner of Jillu Auto Gas who was also the main sponsor of the event.

The provincial of the Discalced Carmelites of the Karnataka-Goa province, Fr Pius James D’Souza along with the co-sponsor of the event, Valerian Lobo, the owner of Royal Furnitures, Karkala graced the occasion with their presence. Fr Charles Serrao, the superior of St Joseph’s Monastery, Fr Rovel D’Souza, the director of Infant Jesus Shrine, Fr Stephen Lobo, the director of Carmel Studio and Fr Jocy, Siddakatte, the Editor of Naman Ballok Jesu were among the dignitaries present. The event was supported by Eric Machado and his parents Godwin and Zarina.
Towards the end of the event Fr. Charles Serrao, Fr. Stephen Lobo and Mr. Valerian Lobo gave away the prizes to the winners.



The competition was held in four categories, and the winners were:

Religious category
First place: Capuchin Novices, Faringipet
Second place: Asha Kiran, Kankanady
Third place: Holy Rosary, Jeppu

Under 20
First place: Immanuel
Second place: Ranipura parish
Third place: The Frolic Five

Above 20
First place: Stars of Wonder
Second place: Mistletoe
Third place: Silver Melodies

Inter parish
First place:Cordel
Second place: Corpus Christi, Moodbidri
Third place: Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail

The judges of the competition were Meera Crasta, Anil Patrao and Dr Suraj Francis Noronha. Fr Don Tony compered the event and Fr Rovel D’Souza rendered the vote of thanks.
