Mangaluru, Dec 15: BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel has termed the chaos and brawl at Karnataka Legislative Council as ‘murder of democracy’.

Speaking to media on Tuesday December 15, he said that Congress party was indulging in rowdism outside the Legislative Council premises in the past but it has resorted to such practices inside the premises now. “It amounts to insult to the people of the state,” he said.

“It is a murder of democracy. Congress has maligned the tradition and the history of Legislative Council. It should apologise to the people of the state for it. Congress state president and former chief minister should ask for forgiveness,” he said.

The Legislative Council session witnessed high drama on Tuesday. Congress and BJP members shoved each other. It is said that Congress members kicked the door and pulled the glass in front of the speaker’s seat.

As the bell rang for the proceedings, deputy speaker Dharmegowda arrived and took his seat. Congress members opposed it. There was confusion between the two party leaders in front of the well of the house. BJP members provided protection to the deputy speaker in between the commotion.
