Bangalore: ‘I Will Wield Power If Govt Fails in its Responsibilities’ – Governor

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jun 2: State Governor, H R Bhardwaj, sounded a warning to the state government by saying that he would wield his powers if the elected government, which is expected to protect the interests of the minorities, veers away from responsibilities. He was speaking at a programme organized in the city by Karnataka State Minority Commission on Tuesday June 1.

“The post of the Governor is not created for remaining a mute spectator to whatever the government does. The Governor is expected to protect the law, and the fundamental rights of the people. He represents President of India. In the past, Karnataka was considered a peaceful state, where people of all religions coexisted peacefully. However, considering the attacks on minorities of late, I had to issue a warning to the government,” he explained. He also said that Muslims contributed immensely to drive away the British colonists and that they enjoy the fundamental right to live in the country peacefully, in spite of the fact that during independence, Pakistan was created. “Christians have also contributed to the country’s development immensely, and they have set up excellent educational institutions. The government should note these facts and give importance to implement the 15-point programme chalked out by the Prime Minister,” he advised. Turning to minister Prof Mumtaz Ali Khan, he sarcastically commented that it has been difficult for Khan to discharge duties as a minister under the prevailing circumstances, even though he had become minister with the blessings of Allah.

The Governor refused to comment on the performance of the Yeddyurappa-led government during its two-year rule. When asked about the notice issued by him to minister, Janardan Reddy, he said he would tell the reporters in detail about it on June 3.

He congratulated the Muslim students who performed excellently in the SSLC and PU examinations. He also honoured Prof Jaleel Ahmed Khan Tareen, vice chancellor of Puducherry University, and the first IAS officer from the state, Salma K Fahim.

Haj, Wakf and minority welfare minister, Prof Mumtaz Ali Khan was present.

Our dear governor bhardwaj uncle is a power hungry politician. That he had been removed from law minister post from the centre to become a copybook artist governors are expected to be, has not gone well with him obviously.
