Mangalore, Jun 7: The cloudy weather and light drizzle being experienced in the coastal districts of Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod since the past couple of days turned into heavy rain on Sunday June 6. Intermittent downpour, which lashed the districts on Sunday morning, afternoon and evening, again soaked them in the night and also on the morning of Monday June 7.

Heavy rain with lightning was experienced in Bantwal taluk on Sunday morning and afternoon. It appears that Beltangady is the only taluk where overcast skies gave an indication of heavy rains, but the expectations of the people were belied as they did not get any rain. So far, no loss to lives and property due to rain has been reported from these districts.

The farmers are happy that their agricultural activities can go ahead as per schedule, with the arrival of rains on time. There was widespread apprehension among the farmer community about the prospects of the onset of monsoon getting delayed. The meteorological department has predicted that rains will gain in intensity in a couple of days. Mysore, Mandya and Kodagu districts, which got good rains on Sunday, with Krishnaraja Sagar topping the list with five cms of rain, are expected to experience more rains in the coming days, the department added. Kerala coast also has been getting good rains, with Kottayam and Idukki recording four cms of rain each.

The newly laid concrete roads without proper planning and without provision for rain water drains is a disaster waiting to happen worse still is the new found fancy of the MCC in digging the newly laid concrete at all places without any rhyme or reason are there no authorities in MCC to stop this highly criminal waste of public money and resources?

Starting of monsoon by the middle of May, after a very long hot and humid season was a celebration
of joy. These beautiful pictures brings sweet memories, but in those days, riding motorcycles with
open umbrellas and a whole family in a scooter etc were unseen circus shows.

Last picture made me in confusion, dear readers could you please make it clear, It tells many thing, 1st of all I want to make sure is this car parked before they dig hole or after that.
It shows the negligence of those workers who dig it. And also we can see the negligence of concerned authority who is in charge of this work.

Authorities are not prepared for rain. Almost all roads are looking like rivers for lack of the drains due to on going road works.  It is high time that some contingency plans are put on warfooting  and mitigate woes of Mangaloreans.
