Mumbai, Feb 12: A delegation comprising heads of privates hospitals met civic chief I S Chahal on Thursday, February 12 to seek permission to vaccinate staffers in their own facilities. Private hospitals are therefore expected to hold vaccination drives within their premises from next week.

Additional municipal commissioner Suresh Kakani said that the final decision would be taken on Friday. "We have asked the human resource and vaccine storing capacity. We may allow them if they meet the criteria," he said.

Coordinating between private hospitals and BMC, Dr Gautam Bhansali said that hospitals such as Tata Memorial have 4,000 staffers while Bombay hospital has 3,000. "One of the reasons why the turnout has been low is lethargy or lack of time to commute to other hospitals," he said.
