Mangalore, Jul 5: Ashok (45), a painter from the locality, drowned in Mudushedde dam at 2.30 pm on Monday July 5.

Ashok, with his two friends Danny and Anil, had been fishing when he slipped into the water. His friends tried to save him by extending a stick to hold on so that they could pull him up.

Unfortunately, they did not succeed and soon the locals were informed about the issue.

With the help of the locals, Ashok was pulled up from the water into a boat but by then he was dead. The fire service and the police who came to the spot helped the locals pull the body out of the dam.

Ashok was the only breadwinner of his family and leaves behind two children.
