Mangalore : Banks Cross Rs 22,601 cr Business in DK District


Mangalore, Jul 17 (DHNS): Banks in Dakshina Kannada have crossed business level of Rs 22,601 crore as on March 2010. This level of business is achieved by 415 bank branches in the district which includes deposits of Rs 14,407 crore and advances of Rs 8194 crore. The Credit Deposit Ratio of the district is 57 as on March 2010.

Syndicate Bank Chief Manager M Ravi addressing the District Consultative Meeting for banking development of the district held at meeting hall of Zilla Panchayat said that there is an increase in deposit by 13 per cent and advances by 11 per cent.

Syndicate Bank Lead Bank Manager Udayakumar Holla presented the agenda. The committee reviewed the performance of the banks under banking statistics, implementation of District Credit Plan 2009-10 for the year ended March 2010 and government sponsored schemes.

The house was informed that under District Credit Plan, disbursement to priority sector advances was Rs 2,011 crore against the target of Rs 2,210 crore, an achievement of 91 per cent of the target. Lending to agriculture was Rs 1,160 crore, Small Scale Industries Rs 268 crore, other priority sectors Rs 584 crore.   Banks have also lent to 66,938 farmers under Kisan Credit Card Scheme, Rs 987 crore to women, Rs 998 crore to weaker sections of the society. The level of advance to agriculture sector was Rs 1,765 crore which constitutes 21 per cent of total advance.
 
Govt  programmes

Under Backward Classes and Minorities Development Corporation Schemes, banks have sanctioned 122 cases under Chaithanya Scheme and 317 cases under Swavalambana Scheme. As many as 142 Self Help Groups were sanctioned loan with subsidy involving Rs 150 lakh under Swarnajayanthi Gram Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY).

A target of financing 6,800 houses has been set for the district under Namma Mane, a unique housing finance scheme of the state. A total of 3,638 SHGs have been formed in the district under Stree Shakthi programme and banks have sanctioned loans to 38 groups during the year. And total of 45,166 Self Help Groups were sanctioned loans amounting to Rs 387 crore in the district.  

Loans up to Rs 25 lakh under Industry sector and up to Rs 10 lakh under business and service sector can be availed by the beneficiaries. During the year, 125 beneficiaries were sanctioned with PMEGP loan, subsidy amounting to Rs 297 lakh, against the target of 120 beneficiaries. The meeting was presided over by ZP CEO P Shivashankar. Nabard AGM Prasad Rao, P D Ravikumar, LDO, RBI, Executives and District Coordinators from Banks, Heads of Govt Departments were present.
