Bantwal, Jul 24: The people of Mani, Kadeshivalaya Giniyur, Perme, Anantadi, Barimaru, Idkidu and Kedila among other places staged a protest in front of Vijaya Bank at Mani here to oppose the non-cooperative and brash behaviour of bank employees on Saturday July 24.
The protestors alleged that the bank employees are careless and do not respond properly to the needs of the customers. They have to wait for hours together for small works in the bank such as opening of an account. Moreover, it takes several months for an account to be activated, they complained.
Many students who have applied for educational loans have not received appropriate response from the bank and hence are a disappointed lot, said the protestors. Adding to this the bank employees have been said to behave rudely with the customers.
As many as 700 people participated in the protest. Local MLA Ramanath Rai visited the spot and spoke about the issue with the bank manager. Taluk panchayat president Babu and Kushala M were also present.
The manager later assured the protestors and the minister that the bank employees will amend their behaviour and that there will be no repeat of such instances.
