Mangalore: Legal Writer’s Torture- Three Police Personnel Suspended

Mangalore, Jul 29: With relation to the suicide case of farm house servant of Coastal Development Authority chairman Nagraj Shetty, three police personnel from Bantwal station have been suspended for allegedly torturing writer Shivaram Shetty.

Two years ago, Shivaram Shetty was detained following the suspicious death of the servant and was later released. But he was again brought to the Bantwal station on Monday July 26 and beaten up badly using rod by the police. Shetty in a critical condition, was admitted to a private hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Following the incident the superintendent of police Dr A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao immediately suspended three police officials responsible for Shetty’s condition.

    There is a unseen hand which makes these police man do it again and again, torture has become a way of work for the police man, i think they lack proper training to extract information without third degree treatment.Secondly police who uses third degree should not only be punished but further increments and promotions be effected.     Joy, I agree with you... But if we had a SP like Dr. Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, the church attacks would'nt have taken place and innocent people would'nt have got beaten horrorly....

    Thats the right decision. If you relate this case with Church attack case, then we will end up with no police officers in Mangalore because SP will have to suspend all the police who attacked people horrorly.
