Udupi: Blood Donation to Mark Voluntary Blood Donors' Day

Udupi, Jul 31: The State AIDS Prevention Society, Bangalore, district health and family welfare department, Udupi and  state government worker’s sangha, Udupi jointly organized a mega blood donation camp at Ajarakadu auditorium here on Saturday July 31.

The camp was organized to mark Voluntary Blood Donors’ Day.

Inaugurating the camp, State home minister V S Acharya said though the people of the region have made a mark in the educational field, they need to realize the importance of donating blood which will be of great benefit to the society. The blood donation centre of Udupi is gaining popularity as more number of people are willingly coming forward to donate blood, he added. 

Zilla panchayat health and education committee president B K Hegde presided. Information officer M Jinganna, commissioner Gokuldas Nayak, state government workers’ sangha president (Udupi branch) Subramanya Shrigar and blood donation centre’s Dr Sharad Kumar were present.

Dr Ramchandra Bayari of district health and family welfare department welcomed the gathering. Sajani compered the programme.
