Karkala: Thousands of Devotees Gather for Annual ‘Jatra’ at Perdoor Temple

Karkala, Aug 17:
Thousands of devotees including newly-wedded couples arrived at the historical Anantapadmanaba Temple, Perdoor, on Tuesday August 17 to offer annual puja to the temple deity despite the torrential rains. 

The buses were jam-packed with devotees who arrived at the temple from all over the undivided Dakshina Kannada district. The puja offerings made by innumerable devotees consisting of large quantities of plantains, silver artifacts, and various fruits, were seen stacked at the temple. 
 
Various Vedic rituals including ‘Satyanarayana puja’ were held on the occasion and devotees were provided free food. Hiriyadka police provided the security at the venue.
