Kasargod: Govt Official’s Legs Amputated in Train Accident

Kasargod, Aug 20: M Somashekharan, project officer (coir) here, and a resident of Valapattanam Taliparamba, fell down from the train he was travelling in, and lost both his legs at Tayalangady railway gate on Thursday August 19.

Reportedly, Somashekharan, who was travelling in Chennai Mail from Kannur to Mangalore, was standing near the door of the compartment, when the door suddenly hit him, resulting in his fall. As the train was moving, its wheels cut off both his legs.

The fire brigade personnel immediately transported the official, who was in serious condition, along with the amputated legs, to a hospital in Mangalore. Surgery was performed on him and he is recovering, it is learnt.
