Udupi, Aug 23: Tiny-tots of Government Nursery School, Hoode of Tonse here celebrated Independence Day.

The celebration began with the inauguration of newly constructed flagpole donated by B M Zaffer of the Baikadi family in memory of his father late B Munavar. Jyothi Lewis, president of Tonse panchayat hoisted the national flag.

The students, staff and others present at the celebration as a due respect sang the national anthem. A minute's silence was paid to the departed soul of late Munavar.

The national flag was hoisted for the first time in the premises using the flagpole. This and the whole celebration was possible due to the contribution by B M Zaffer, who made available the facilities required by the nursery. 

Mahila Congress president Veronica Carnelio, Jamia Masjid Hoode president T M  Rahmatullah, Darussalam Committee Tonse president B Ahmed Saheb, mandal panchayat member T M Zaffrullah, Mohammedia Educational Trust trustee Idrees, Darussalam English Medium School staff and students were present among others

Nursery School teacher Shakuntala welcomed the gathering. Dr Mohammed Rafik, chief executive officer of School Developmeny and Monitoring Committee, Parika, and master of the ceremony also proposed the vote of thanks.
