Mangalore: Emirates Paradela Distributes Student Scholarship at Samanvaya

Mangalore, Aug 23: Emirates Paradela, UAE and Samanvaya, Mangalore jointly organized training on Save Planet Earth cum Scholarship Disbursal programme at Samanvaya Conference Hall, Urwastores here on Sunday August 22.

Vice-president of Emirates Paradela UAE Leenus Sequeira, entertainment secretary Cedrick Menezes and member Jayanth D’Silva were the chief guests and distributed the scholarships to the students and shared their feelings. They urged the students to grow with knowledge, values and to help the needy, sick and intelligent poor students during their professional career. “By excelling in all fields one can excel in life” said Leenus Sequeira. 

The other guests Bennett D’Mello, Allan D’Mello, Arun D’Souza and Belinda D’Mello were on the dais and also distributed the scholarships. 

This year the scholarship disbursed was Rs 3.75 lac. Among the 69 recipients of the scholarships 19 high school, 19 pre-university, 13 degree college and three diploma in engineering, three BSC Nursing, two general nursing and 10 engineering students were present. Since 2006 a total sum of Rs 15.25 lac have been distributed by Emirates Paradela to the students as scholarships and Rs 4 lac to cancer patients in 2008 through Samanvaya.

Another part of the programme was the training on ‘Save Planet Earth’. The resource person Dr Ronald Cutinha director of Samanvaya highlighted the need and role of youth in protecting environment, avoiding the excessive use of plastic, depliction of Ozone layer, acid rain, solid waste management through PowerPoint presentation. he scholarship students Anup Madtha, Movin Pinto, Gresilda Joyline D’souza and Nympha Clevita Sequeira gave feedback on the training.

In the beginning prayer song was sung by Reema Loraine Rodrigues and group. Fr Ronald Cutinha welcomed and introduced the guests to the students. Priya Jyothi Cutinha proposed the vote of thanks and Lavita Marina Saldanha compered the programme.
