Mangalore: Irresponsible Truck Drivers Disrupt Traffic

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Aug 25: On Tuesday August 24 morning, a truck carrying sand hit the railings of a bridge at Mijar Bellecharu on national highway 13, and stopped short of plunging into the river by a whisker. As a result, movement of heavy vehicles on the highway was rendered impossible. The vehicle was taken out with the help of a backhoe and ropes after about three hours.

The buses and other heavy vehicles from the city took the Yedapadav-Kallamundkoor route to reach Moodbidri. Vehicles from Moodbidri to the city took a detour through the Mijar, Iruvail road.

After the rear door of a tipper carrying boulders from Kundapur to Paduvari suddenly swung open, the boulders got scattered on a long stretch of the road near Maravante beach on Tuesday. It took over half an hour for the boulders to be removed, and the traffic on the national highway 17 came to a standstill during this period.
