Centre has approved Rs 1,600 cr for development of roads in Shivamogga: MP Raghavendra

Kundapur, Jun 7: "The state and union government gave priority to the development, despite several challenges brought on by the pandemic. Funds were also released for several developmental works. Union minister Nitin Gadkari has released Rs 1,600 crore for the development of roads in the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency," said Shivamogga MP BY Raghavendra.

He was speaking during a press meet in Hemmadi Jayashri convention hall here on Monday, June 7.

The 29.45 km Byndoor-Ranebennuru road 766(A) will be developed at the coast of Rs 210 crore. Rs 1.35 crore have been sanction to prepare DPR for two lanes and the development of ghats. For the development of Hulikal road, Rs 3 crore has been sanctioned and Rs 3 crore is approved for the development of local roads. For the development of Balebare Ghat, a grant of Rs 3 crore has been approved. A 16 km long bridge on the Byndoor-Kollur-Ranebennuru Highway will be constructed at a cost of Rs 40 crore. This will reduce the distance by 25 km," he said.

"The union cabinet has given approval for the drinking water project in the Byndoor constituency, tenders will be invited soon. This will facilitate water to 2.42 lac people in 788 residential areas. The project will receive Rs 139 crore from the centre, Rs 80 crore from the state government and Rs 176 crore from NABARD. Rs 49 crore will be released for maintenance of the project. The total cost of the project would be 500 crores."

MLA BM Sukumar Shetty, BJP Byndoor president, Deepak Kumar Shetty, former member of zilla panchayat, Suresh Batvadi, Shankar Poojary was present.

Uday Ganiga murder

Speaking on Uday Ganiga's murder, Raghavendra said, "Byndoor constituency is well known for maintaining law and order. The deceased is our party worker. The murder accusation is also against our party worker. Whoever committed the crime will be punished. There will be no political interference in the case."

"The family of the deceased should get justice," he added.
