Kasargod, Jun 7: After K Sundara who was the candidate for Kerala Assembly polls from BSP, alleged that he withdrew his nomination after he was lured by the BJP, the Kasargod district court on Monday, June 7 permitted to register a case against the BJP state unit president K Surendran and two others. The court permitted to register the case, after considering the application filed by LDF candidate VV Rameshan.

Following the allegation by Sundara, Rameshan had filed a case with the superintendent of police. Badiyadka police had also started a primary investigation. After summoning Sundara to the police station on Sunday, the officials collected information. But, to bookcase against Surendran, court permission was required. Hence, police had to approach the court. But, the court had rejected the application filed by the police but considered the application filed by VV Rameshan in this regard. The court also permitted to register a case against two other local BJP leaders including Surendran.

VV Rameshan in the application alleged that the candidate was abducted, kept under confinement and was made to withdraw his nomination by promising monetary gains.

After Sundara took his nomination back, on March 21, BJP leaders gave him cash along with a smartphone. Sundara had revealed about this two days ago. Thus, the incident of BJP pressurizing K Sundara to take back his nomination came to light.

In the 2016 assembly election, K Sundara who contested as the independent candidate had secured 467 votes. In this election, Surendran had lost elections against UDF candidate PB Abul Razak for 89 votes. It is said that because of Sundara, Surendran lost the elections. This time Sundara contested elections as a BSP candidate. Though Sundara withdrew his resignation, BJP's Surendran lost the elections. It is said that BJP leaders pressurized Sundara to withdraw his nomination. They also promised to fulfil his various demands. Sundara demanded Rs 15 lac from BJP leaders. He was also promised a wine shop in Mangaluru and a house if Surendran wins Manjeshwara constituency. After Sundara withdrew the nomination, the BJP leaders handed him Rs 2.50 lac and a smartphone. Also, promised to fulfil his various demands once Surendran won the elections. Two months after the election the information got leaked and it turned into a challenge for BJP leader Surendran to secure a victory.
