Bantwal, Jun 7: Former minister B Ramanath Rai stated that sufficient planning is required to deal with the corona pandemic. “It is shameful that Remdesivir and medicines for black fungus are not available in hospitals but are available in black market. The government was requested that Rs 100 crore including the Congress MLA's funds be used for vaccines but the union government has not given approval,” he alleged.

“Congress has been providing uninterrupted support for Covid management. The party has provided ambulances at every block in the district and the Congress war room works round the clock. The party provides help in securing beds, oxygen, performing last rites and donating plasma. The party was also providing food to the needy in Bantwal and at the district level.”

“Corona has reached disastrous proportions because of faulty decisions by the governments at the centre and the state. It was unfortunate that the Supreme Court had to ask the government to provide oxygen to patients.”

“Fuel price hike is a curse on people during the pandemic. It has increased the prices of essential commodities. The media and the people should be the voice of Congress in these conditions. The government should reissue cancelled BPL ration cards,” he said.

Indira Kshemanidhi to help Covid affected families was set in motion by a member of Vidhan Parishat, DCC president Harish Kumar at the Hotel Rangoli auditorium on Monday.

Former minister B Ramanath Rai and local Congress leaders were present.
