Beltangady: Youth drowns when taking bath in river

Beltangady, Jun 8: A youth who ventured into River Netravati at Maningeri in Kalenja village in the taluk drowned on Sunday August 6.

The deceased has been identified as Shibin (19), son of Shaji Thomas from Koyyur village.

Shibin had come to Maningeri to visit the family of his relatives. In the afternoon, he went to the river along with some young relatives, to take bath. He was dragged away by the undercurrent. Those who were with him at the time tried their best to save him but reportedly they failed in their efforts.

Dharmasthala police visited the spot, conducted spot inspection, and registered a case.
