Bengaluru: Entrusting Mangaluru airport to Adani - HC seeks details

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 9: The state high court (HC) has sought details about the policies of the central government in entrusting operation, maintenance and development of Mangaluru international airport to Adani Enterprises Ltd.

Airport Employees Union has filed public interest litigation, objecting to the privatisation of the airport. It came up before a division bench of the high court on Tuesday June 8.

The bench observed that prima facie the action of handing over the airport to private party appears to be volatile of section 12A of the Airports Authority of India Act. Therefore it instructed the government to provide details of the privatisation move and laws supporting such a move, before adjourning the hearing to July 8.

Advocate Vinkayak Vishnu Bhat, who appeared on behalf of the petitioners, placed his arguments before the bench.
