Mangaluru: Lady complains of mental, physical torture by husband

Mangaluru, Jun 9: A lady has filed complaint in the women's police station here, accusing the family of her husband of inflicting mental and physical torture.

The complainant had married Muhammed Ashraf on April 14, 2013, at Mega Plaza hall in Gurpur. Two months later, her husband had left for foreign country, and she lived with his family members. She said that during this period, her in-laws scolded her by using obscene words and physically tortured her. She also said that even her husband derided her with derogatory words when speaking on mobile phone and inflicted mental torture on her.

She says that when she was two months pregnant, her husband’s family drove her out after which she has been living in her parental home. She said that whenever she approached her husband's home, her in-laws, elder sister of her husband and younger brother of her husband admonished her and never allowed her to enter the house.

The women's police station personnel who have registered the case, are investigating the complaint.
