Kundapur, Jun 12: Block congress committee of the city held a protest as part of ‘100 notout’ campaign against the rising price of diesel and petrol in the city. Congress leaders banged utensils at the HP petrol pump near the government hospital in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, district Congress leader Kishan Hegde said, “Last year during Covid lockdown the tax on fuel was increased by Rs 14. If this at least is revoked the price of petrol will come down. This BJP government has no commitment and concern for the public. It should be brought down from power.”

“Due to the increase in the price of fuel, the cost of essential commodities is also rising. This will have a direct impact on the commoners. Though there is opportunity to reduce the price, union and state governments are not making any effort,” said block Congress president Hariprasad Shetty Kanmakki.

Senior Congress leader Malyadi Shivarama Shetty also spoke on the occasion.
