Bengaluru, Jul 4: A birthday celebration at an apartment here turned tragic, when a person, who was filling balloons with gas, died on the spot after the gas cylinder exploded.

Dinesh (19), a resident of Parappana Agrahara, who was engaged in business of providing balloons for birthday parties lost his life in the incident.

Dinesh had taken the contract of filling gas in balloons for a birthday party and had arrived at the apartment building along with his assistant Mahadesh.

Sunil has several valid points which need to be taken aboard. But, to say “DW blunders as usual, editorial quality is down these days” seems a bit uncharitable and sweeping statement. It doesn’t take into account media reality of news and features are sourced from news/features syndicated agencies. It is a bit unthinkable, impractical, cost-prohibitive for the fast-growing website to run on slim cost budget to survive - let alone grow. Ads are shrinking. It is to be appreciated that against this background, Daiji seems to be struggling to keep itself afloat and offer its followers an up to date forum for news and features. Let us wish for its long, successful life.

Manufacturing cylinder using artificial chemicals......is this correct or you mean manufacturing the gas using artificial chemicals. DW blunders as usual, editorial quality is down these days. Actually helium gas should be used to fill balloon since helium is a non-reactive noble gas in group VIII of the periodic table. But since helium is very rare it is also very expensive so these unscrupulous people fill the balloons with combustible gases like Hydrogen which works out cheaper but is very dangerous. Think 10 times before giving these explosive balloons to kids unless you are very sure that the gas in there is actually Helium.
