Puttur: Honeytrap case - Three arrested, Rs 7.5 lac cash recovered

Puttur, Jul 6: Relating to a honeytrap plan in which a youth was allegedly pressurized into paying Rs 30 lac to a gang, a team of policemen arrested three accused relating to the case from near Sarve near Savanur in the taluk on Monday July 5. A sum of Rs 7.5 lac in cash was also recovered from their possession.

The arrested accused happens to be Muhammed Shafi from Kotyady Kattapuni in Nettanige Mudnoor, Azhar from Attikere in Savanur village, and Nazeer M, residing near Ambedkar Bhavan in Manthoor. The lady relating to the case, Tanisha Raj, was arrested last Friday. The total number of arrests has mounted to four till now.

A car valued at five lac rupees used for the crime, an auto-rickshaw valued at one lac rupees, and three cell phones were confiscated from the possession of the arrested accused. The operation was conducted by the police circle inspector Thimmappa Naik and Sampya station sub-inspector Udayaravi M Y, under the leadership of deputy superintendent of police, Gana P Kumar and guidance of the district superintendent of police.

Abdul Nasir from Beechagadde, Nettanige Mudnoor, had complained to the police stating that he had lost Rs 30 lac in a honeytrap executed by a gang. A case was registered against seven persons. One of the accused is said to have fled to a foreign country sometime back.
