Sullia: Issue of objection to Christians playing at temple ground amicably settled

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Jul 15: The dispute that had arisen about playing of cricket in the Daivasthana premises near Jayanagara, Sullia, witnessed a happy ending. A video of the incident had gone viral, and there was a bombardment of comments. The issue was closed amicably after both the sides met at the police station and agreed to give the incident a decent burial. It was also decided that no one would be allowed to play inside the Daivasthana premises.

The video of verbal altercation on the issue of playing cricket in the temple premises of Korambadka Adimogerkala Daivasthana near Sullia Jayanagara had become viral. The temple management had decided to plant saplings in the land belonging to the temple. For this purpose, pits had been dug. This had created problems for the youngsters as they could not play cricket there.

When the temple officials said that people belonging to other religions cannot play inside the Daivasthana premises, some youngsters stressed that they were Hindus. Thereafter, a youth belonging to another religion had been sent away, and the youngsters had approached the police station.

Praveen Jayanagara, who objected the cricket being played in the Daivasthana ground, clarified that he had objected because a decision had been taken at a public meeting not to allow games inside the premises. He told the police that he was not driven by the intention of creating communal hatred. President of the managing committee, Vasanth Kutpaje, regretted about the communal remark made by a member of the committee and also the verbal altercation with the boys. He apologised on behalf of Praveen and assured that such incidents will not recur.

It is good that the incident is sorted peacefully. Not sure why people have to bring religion to every discussions these days. We should avoid that. Helping hands are better than Praying Lips.

G.R .Prabhu Mangalore right what you said.Such attitude like now I never felt before all those years.Only after the new govt, came in all started with my religion our religion, others minors etc.I find this issue of playing cricket ,best someone must allot a place somewhere else other than church ,or Temple ,so that all can enjoy the brotherhood in playing without any religion question comes in.I knew in my childhood so many children used to come to play in church grounds cricket.noone complained about this or that .Self the asst.Priest also used to take part in it sometimes in Belman.

Wah, wah..... Are we deaf or what? We all heard what Mr. Praveen Jayanagara said. And now the spin that he had objected due to a public meeting not to allow games inside the premises. Public is dumb or what?

I am extremely happy to see the resolution to the problem. This is our Native Culture. We celebrated Krishastami, Diwali, Christmas, Eid - together when we were small kids. It hurts to see if anyone is living by religious identity. We are all Indians and we must strive and die for India. This is how I have groomed my only daughter and it give me great and immense pleasure to see our India in peace.

We have played several times in such areas, however the elders from other community would come and tell us politely explaining the sanctity of the place and end was good always.

Shame of those creatures created hate in the society. If every nation start treating Indians this ways soon Indians will learn a lesson how to treat it's own citizens . Covid has not thought anyone the hardship of life. Descrimination has no place on this earth. People respect your citizens and kick out those creatures who creates such issues politicians and whoever planted hate in society. When politicians involved with such act weed them out. Never vote them again.

Unfortunately nowadays we address ourselves and others as Hindus , Muslims , Christians , SC ,ST , Brahmin etc . We have forgotten that we are Indians first and all else is secondary. Sad state of our Country.
