Bengaluru, Aug 19: A public interest litigation has been filed in the state high court (HC) by an advocate, Balaji Naidu. Naidu has questioned the rationale behind the zero traffic system arranged for the travel of MLA Shashikala Jolle on August 4 from Kempegowda International Airport here to the Raj Bhavan to enable her to take part in the minister's oath taking ceremony.

The HC ordered issuance of notices to the government and Shashikala Jolle in the matter. The litigation came up before a division bench of the HC presided over by the Chief Justice A S Oka. After hearing arguments of the litigant for some time, the bench issued notices to Shashikala Jolle, chief secretary of the government, state director general of police, additional director general of police, city police commissioner, and the additional police commissioner of the city traffic division

The bench wanted to know who took the decision to provide zero traffic facility to the MLA. It wondered what would happen if all the legislators demanded a similar facility. Asserting that zero traffic can be justified only in case of heart transportation etc, it questioned the exigency which the MLA came across to deserve the facility.
