M'lore: New MBA Students Given Tips on Management During AIMIT Orientation Prog

Mangalore, Sep 28: The inaugural of the fresh batch of MBA at AIMIT, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) was held here on Monday September 27.

Fr Denzil Lobo, director, AIMIT led the group in prayer, invoking God’s blessings on all the first year students, their parents, the faculty and the second year students.

Dr Ozwald Mascarehas, chairman, MBA dept, AIMIT in his preliminary remarks spoke of the new ethos the students will have to inculcate while pursuing management studies. He spoke about the vision, mission, objectives and clear goals one needs to have in order to be successful.

Fr Denzil then gave an extensive presentation on the history of St Aloysius College, its ethos and the vision of the fathers who founded the Institution. He also spoke on the various activities conducted by the MBA department. In his vision for the future, Fr Denzil mentioned that AIMIT is slated to be one of the top ten B-schools in India within the next 5 to 7 years.

The inaugural programme was followed by an input by Fr Oswald on the way to study at the MBA level and the expectations the Institution has of the newcomers. In his presentation “Learning to Learn” he stressed the need of active preparation, engagement in learning process, dedication and unlearning of the past methods of learning.

The next session was handled by Renjith Krishnan, the HR faculty of AIMIT. Through team building activity he brought out the need of participative learning.

From 4 pm to 8 pm the new students had group dynamics conducted by Fr Melwin Pinto, headmaster, St Aloysius High School and Fr Prashanth. One more group was led by Rockey Noronha, a versatile group animator and motivational speaker.

On the second day of the orientation programme inputs were given on Academic Structure, Teaching Pedagogy, Rules and Regulations of Campus, Management Club Activities and regarding internship, projects and placement activities. The last session of the day was again handled by Rockey Noronha, who continued with the group dynamics sessions.
