Mangalore: Mumbai-based Entrepreneur, Umesh Sanil, Passes Away

Mangalore, Sep 30: Umesh Sanil (76), a native of Attavar Babugudde, who went to Mumbai in 1957 and set up his own industries in Mumbai after a humble beginning, and became successful in course of time, breathed his last at his residence in Chembur, Mumbai on Wednesday September 29. He is survived by wife and two sons.

Sanil, who joined a Spanish company in Fort Mumbai in 1957, later worked as chief store in-charge in Pioneer Equipment Company till 1963. In later years, he set up his own industrial timber works, paper box industry, and Craft Pack Containers, a packaging industry, in Chembur.

He had worked as a scout volunteer in Gokarnanatha Temple here, besides serving Billavara Sangha Mumbai as member, and founder director of Bharath Cooperative Bank for long time. He had worked as the working president of Chembur office of Billavara Sangha. He was also instrumental in the renovation of Gurumandir through Bannanje Billavara Sangha. He had been felicitated by the then Karnataka Chief Minister, S M Krishna, for his contribution as the honorary president of Brahmabaidarkala Cultural Study Foundation in Adi Udupi.

Various dignitaries including minister, Dr V S Acharya, MLA, K Raguhapati Bhat, and trustees of Brahmabaidarkala Cultural Study Foundaiton, have mourned the demise of Sanil.
