Bengaluru: HC refuses bail to SI who forced accused to consume urine

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Aug 26: The single judge bench of the high court presided over by Justice Sreenivas Harish Kumar refused to grant anticipatory bail to Arjun, erstwhile police sub-inspector (SI) of Gonibeedu police station in Chikkamagaluru district. Arjun has been accused of assaulting an accused and forcing him to consume urine of another accused.

The bench observed that the behaviour of the accused in the case is demeaning. Investigation in the case is still in progress and granting bail at this stage is not felt appropriate, the bench stated.

Puneet from Kirugunda village in Chikkamagaluru district was facing the allegation of calling a woman over phone and behaving with her improperly. Arjun had taken him to the police station on May 10. It is alleged that he made Puneet remove his clothes after which he was bound with ropes and an iron rod was kept near his thighs. He was attacked at will and made to drink the urine of another man, it is alleged.

The government had suspended Arjun from service. The case is being investigated by the criminal investigation department.
