Udupi, Oct 1: In a strange case, a stray lightning struck the house of Satish Shetty in Gundibail Arkadakatte here at around 2.30 am on Friday October 1. Although the town had experienced high intensity of thunder and lightning on the night of Tuesday, by and large, the climate has remained dry thereafter, but for occasional showers.
In the above incident, family members, Satish Shetty (40), his wife, Usha Shetty (33), mother, Sundari Shetty (60), and daughter, Trisha (6) suffered minor injuries. They have been admitted into a private hospital in the city for treatment.
The electrical wiring in the house was burnt completely, while the television set suffered extensive damages. Local MLA, Raghupati Bhat, and tahsildar, Prasanna Kumar, visited the family.
