Udupi: Postmatriculate Girls, Boys' Hostel Inaugurated

Udupi, Oct 4: The foundation stone laying ceremonies for hostel building of postmatriculate girls at Bannanje and boys' hostel at 76 Badagabettu here were held on Saturday October 2.

After laying the foundation stone in a stage programmme at badagabettu , minister for higher education Dr v S Acharya said that in the last two years the government has been awarding special prizes for the SC/ST students, students securing over 75% in SSLC and also rank holders for the development of education scene in the state. Such programmes will continue considering that progress in education scene will lead to progress of the society for generation next, he said.

MP D V Sadananda Gowda distributed various facilities to the beneficiary students on the occasion. MLA Raghupati Bhat presided.

Coastal Development Authority B Nagaraj Shetty, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon, deputy commissioner P Hemalata, Zilla Panchayat president Gladys Almeida and taluk panchayat Shyamala Sudhakar among others were present.

district social welfare officer Dr H nataraj welcomed. Teacher Adve Ravindra Poojary compered the programme.

The hostels that have come up at the cost of Rs 1.98 lac and Rs 76 lac is the joint project of district administration, zP and social welfare department.
